Shared 4-day desert trip: day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n'Tichka – Aït Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

We leave Marrakech in the morning and cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, at around 2,260 metres. Along the way we stop to enjoy the mountains and the Berber villages.

Next we visit the kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with time to walk through its streets. Then we continue through Ouarzazate, the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of Roses to the Dades Valley.

Overnight: hotel in the Dades Valley, with dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

After breakfast we drive to Tinghir and the Todra Gorges, where we walk between rock walls around 300 metres high. Then we continue through Erfoud, known for its fossils, and Rissani to Merzouga.

At the Erg Chebbi dunes we swap the vehicle for dromedaries and reach the camp as the sun sets. In the evening you can enjoy a traditional dinner, mint tea and Berber music around the fire. On a clear night you will see countless stars.

Overnight: camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, standard or luxury depending on your choice, with dinner and breakfast.

Day 3: Merzouga: sunrise, Khamlia and nomad villages

We wake you early to watch the sunrise over the dunes and ride back from the camp for breakfast.

Then the day is yours to explore the area around Merzouga. First, we visit Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa music, and, depending on the day, areas where nomadic families live. There is time for photos, rest and enjoying the desert with the group.

Overnight: in or near Merzouga.

Day 4: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast we start the journey back. Depending on the route and conditions, we stop in the Draa Valley with its vast palm groves. Then we continue to Ouarzazate and cross the High Atlas again.

We arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening.

Overnight: end of the trip in Marrakech.
